The Lumo Lift requires a device with Bluetooth 4.0 capabilities due to the way the communication protocol is designed. Anything running below bluetooth 4.0 will not have the power functionality and would quickly drain the device. This becomes significant, especially since the Lumo Lift requires real-time data processing and requires hardware capabilities that allows for seamless integration of data from your Lumo Lift to your device.
In order to use the Windows application with your Lumo Lift you will require the use of our proprietary bluetooth dongle. This device allows your Windows PC running Windows 7+ to communicate with your Lumo Lift. Not every computer currently running Windows 7+ has BLE capability and the bluetooth dongle allows for all of our users to use the application with their Lumo Lift. Please note that the Lumo Lift will only work with the Windows Dongle sold on our website — the Lumo Lift has a unique firmware only compatible with our Windows Dongle.
Microsoft has two versions of the Surface Tablet. The first is a Surface Tablet that is running Windows 8, The second is a Surface Tablet that is running Windows RT.
Unfortunately we do not support Surface Tablets running Windows RT.
It should work if you plug the dongle into your Surface Tablet running Windows 8, but please note that it has not been fully tested. The application has been optimized to work best on Windows desktop computers running windows 7 or higher.
The Lift app is acts as a remote for various posture features like Posture Alert, Coaching Sessions and its settings, as well as a place for you to view your progress and track your data.
However, you do not need to have your device with you at all times, or have the app open the entire time you are using your Lumo Lift. Once you have activated and aligned your Lumo Lift, you can walk away from your compatible computer and your Lumo Lift will still track your posture and activity throughout the day. The sensor itself can store up to 3 weeks of posture and activity data, so daily syncing is not necessary — though we recommend frequent data syncing so you can track your progress.
If you do not have access to one of the supported devices, the Lumo Lift can still be used without an app. Though the features and customization will be more restricted, you can still activate and end Coaching Sessions and align your Lift to calibrate your standard of good posture directly through the sensor. The only difference would be that you would not be able to track progress and customize your settings.
