Lumo Back Now Available in Apple Stores

LUMOback Now Available in Apple Stores

Today marks a banner day here at LUMO HQ.  Just when we’ve begun to quantify the scale of the toll that tech usage is taking on our bodies, LUMOback is now available to some of the techiest people we know – Apple users – in US Apple stores starting today, October 22nd.

LizLUMOback, which provides a gentle vibration when you slouch to remind you to sit or stand straight, is available for $149.95 from our online store, and now is also for sale in Apple stores nationwide.  The sensor band is worn on your lower back and designed to be slim, sleek and so comfortable that you barely feel it when you have it on.

triple screen shot 3.0The sensor connects wirelessly to the iOS app, which tracks users’ posture and activities in real time, mirroring your daily activities, whether you’re sitting, standing, walking, running or sleeping. The app also tracks steps, calories burned, time standing, time sitting and the number of “stand ups” you do every hour and day.

And you can, of course, track your progress at retraining your posture with the LUMOback app’s daily Posture Score.

“At LUMO BodyTech, our mantra is that you can’t improve what you don’t measure. In recent surveys, we’ve discovered that the single-most common thing people suffering from Silicon Valley Syndrome do is to try to alleviate their tech-related health symptoms is attempt to correct their posture,” said CEO Monisha Perkash.

“But the data also shows that posture is very difficult to improve without constant, real-time body feedback,” Perkash continued.  “We’ve measured that 70% of people who use LUMOback report that their posture has improved.  So, today, we’re delighted to bring the LUMOback Smart Posture and Movement Feedback system directly to the most tech-forward early adopters we know: Apple store customers.”

Here’s another startling measurement: 80% of Americans will complain of back pain at some point in their lives.  In developing LUMOback, we worked with spine physicians and physical therapists who understand the close relationship of poor posture and back pain.  Our experts developed a biomechanical model of correct lower back posture.  The LUMOback app uses this model along with personalized calibration algorithms that adapt to each user’s individual body shape, which allows the LUMOback to address the root cause of each user’s poor posture in a customized way.

LUMOback is currently compatible with Apple iPhone 5S, 5C, 5, 4S, iPad (3rd and 4th gen), iPad Mini, and iPod touch (5th gen).  You can download the app for free in Apple’s App Store and now you can purchase the LUMOback Smart Movement and Feedback System in brick-and-mortar Apple Stores nationwide.
