My heartfelt welcome to our community and to a revolution. This revolution is one where sitting well, avoiding sedentary behavior, and minding our posture is as normal as brushing our teeth. In the process, we not only feel better, but we look better too!

At Lumo, we believe that small changes can have a big impact on your personal health, and therefore our products empower you to make those changes.  Today we’re focused on posture; tomorrow, we’ll extend our technology to help consumers self-track additional attributes to improve their overall health and fitness.

This is a very exciting time for all of us because, through technologies like Lumo Back, we can give our bodies a voice. I’m thrilled that you’ve joined us on our journey.

    Can it be used if you don’t have a cell phone? That is, does it depend on the phone for any functioning?

    Hi Jennie,

    Yes, you are able to use a LUMOback without using a cellphone or the app. However, you still need a compatible device in order to set up your device for the first time. If you have access to an iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 3rd gen, iPad 4th gen, iPad Mini, or iPod Touch 5th gen, you can still install the app, activate, and calibrate on that device and use the LUMOback sensor independently of the app. Your LUMOback can store about 1 month’s worth of data before you would need to sync to the iOS device (if you don’t want to lose that data). If you would only like to use LUMOback for vibration feedback, you would not have to worry about syncing your data and the sensor will continue to work over time.

    Will you have an android app any time soon?

      Hi Paul,

      The major reason we haven’t been able to build an Android application is because the Android ecosystem is not ready yet for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) enabled devices.

      The Android operating system currently does not support BLE – the communication protocol the LUMOback sensor uses to connect to the mobile phone to calibrate and send data. Some specific Android manufacturers that have built BLE compatible smartphones have released their own BLE stacks, however, this would require our small team to develop separate Android apps for each specific phone – an app for the Motorola RAZR and a separate app for the Samsung Galaxy S3. We know that Google is working hard on a native BLE stack that would allow us to build one Android app that could work with most or all BLE enabled smart phones. Until then, we can’t launch our Android app. Please sign up for our newsletter to get the latest product updates and we will definitely keep you updated!

      We are hard at work on an Android app and will support Android 4.3+ by the end of this year!

    Yes, we will have an app for Samsung S3 and S4 running Android 4.3+ by Christmas of this year!
