How To Use the Lumo Lift App [Video]

using-app

Once you set up your Lumo Lift, you’ll want to explore the Lumo Lift app. Let’s take a quick tour of the app, shall we?

On the main screen, there are 2 orbs.  The top orb tells you how your posture has been recently, and the bottom orb shows you your recent activity.  Tapping on either orb will show you more detailed information, such as how many good hours of posture you’ve had today, or how many steps you’ve taken, the distance you’ve travelled, and calories burned.

To see historical information, swipe right on the main screen.  To see how you’ve done each hour, swipe up to reveal hour-by-hour information.

To start a coaching session, tap the “Coach” button at the top right corner of the main screen.  In these sessions, you’ll receive gentle vibrations each time you slouch, as well as motivational coaching messages about your posture. Tap the “End Session” button to leave a coaching session.

To change your profile, get help, or learn more, just tap the menu icon in the upper left corner, or swipe down on the main screen.

Watch the video below for a quick review of the Lift app.

When I leave the main screen, I cannot find my way back. How do I get back there?

    Hi Bulent,

Unfortunately, you cannot turn off the Bluetooth on your Lumo Lift. However, you can turn your phone’s Bluetooth off to conserve power, if you wish!

Just want to add my voice – would be great to be able to have longer (infinite) coaching sessions – like the lumoback. It would also be nice to be able to control the intensity of vibration – is that possible?

We’ll have longer Coaching Sessions soon!

Don’t be coy here. Please pay attention to what people say/ask in composing your replies on this. You have habitually been ignoring that many similar requests in your blog have used the word “infinite” in respect to time frame.

I would be a bit more metered here and say if the device can’t coach for 8 hours then it’s going to be useless to me.

While in coaching mode- my lift does not buzz if I’m slouching while walking. It will only buzz if I’m slouching while sitting or standing still.

What should I do with the Lift while I’m sleeping? Is there a way to turn it off?

There is no way to turn Lumo Lift off, but it will go into standby mode if you leave it unworn on a table. The charging dock makes for a great home for your Lumo Lift overnight, and also ensures that your Lift will always be fully charged and ready to go!

I wish you could see a more informative breakdown of the data within an individual hour. Bar graphs, etc would be nice.

Is it possible to control how slouched you have to be before the unit triggers on coaching mode? I know the lumo back could do that.

Try syncing with the app. If you have a black Lumo Lift, it is possible that it is hard for you to see the LED lighting up.

Why so little data in the app? It’s pretty discouraging to see that I have 0 hours of good posture for the day, but if I could see that I went from good posture 10% of the time from 3-4, up to good posture 20% of the time from 4-5, that would really boost my confidence and keep me on track. Same with coaching sessions, it would be nice to have a summary screen for each coaching session telling me how well I did, and mapping my improvement against previous coaching sessions. Have you guys looked at the sort of data and displays provided by Strava and MapMyRun?

I have the app and everything’s working nicely. But I’m wondering if I can use my Lumo Lift WITHOUT the app. I’d like to simply start a coaching session whenever I feel like by double tapping and don’t feel like bothering having to sync everything up with my phone. Will it still work? If so, how long is the coaching session?

Will it eventually work with runkeeper or my fitness pal? Also, the calories are way off even after entering my weight. 468 steps for 840 Calories!

      Hi there,

Our previous product, Lumo Back, works with MyFitnessPal and we are always working to add new features and compatibility.

The caloric burn that we provide is a combination of your basal metabolic rate and your activity level. So, even with only 468 steps, your body may have burned 840 calories since midnight through basic functioning. This explains why the app shows caloric burn even right when you wake up in the morning – our bodies are burning calories while we sleep! Like most activity trackers, we provide this combined number of basal metabolic rate + activity calories because this gives an approximate number of calories that your body is burning throughout the whole day. This number helps you know how many calories to consume to maintain your weight.

Are you trying to connect through the app? Lumo Lift won’t show up as a bluetooth device under bluetooth settings.

You certainly can if you’d like! We’ll track your steps while you run, and you will likely also get some activity credit for biking, depending on how vigorously you bike.

I have searched everything, looked at all FAQs and nothing shows how to change my password on the lumolift app. I am referred to spots but they all apply to lumo back. I sent email to support – nothing. I set up app when I first got the lift and then didn’t use it right away. Had to get a new password emailed, but it is impossible to remember and hard to enter (what can I say, I’m old). I just want to change to something manageable that makes sense to me. Don’t understand why that seems to be so difficult

how waterproof is the Lift? I wear it running and it gets pretty wet. Also- can you wear it vertical and horizontal? All the photos show it horizontal but the bra magnet clips it on vertically. Thanks.

It’s totally fine to wear it either horizontally or vertically, just be sure to Align your sensor each time you put it on.

Lumo Lift is highly sweat-resistant – just don’t submerge it in water. Thanks!

Hey there, so sorry to hear that! Are you an Android user? If so, what make / model are you currently using? We only support a handful of devices at the moment, but we do offer the Android APK to download off of our website. Here’s the link: http://bit.ly/lumo-lift-apk Let us know if you have any questions. Thanks!

This device is great – but really should have been designed waterproof – as i have had four of them now – you only need to forget to take it off your shirt the once and it goes to laundry for a soak…. rendering it dead…..
please do let me know when a waterproof one if designed……

When using the app, after I sign in, and link my lumo lift, there is a demo of showing me how to wear it, I hit next, then a demo showing me how to align it. I can’t go anywhere from here except back to the previous demo. How do I get to the menu???

    • Ellie Kulick
      Ellie Kulick
      05.01.2016

Hey JK, thanks for your question! To get passed the align page, you will have to physically double press the Lumo Lift sensor to align. The app should detect this (because it’s connected via bluetooth) and will let you move through to the next screen.

After the first align page, there will be another screen where it will remind you to align frequently. It is the same here where you will have to physically Align the Lumo Lift once again to complete the set up. Thanks!

Hi, How long does it take for the Lumo Lift to charge? I’ve had it charging at my desk for about 4 hours and the red LED (less than 20% battery) light is still on. Is this normal?
