How to Feel More Confident, Instantly

Listen, we think you’re awesome. But we also know that it’s all too easy to feel down on yourself from time to time. When negativity starts to rear its ugly head, it can impair your performance in all aspects of your life, from your career to your flirting skills.

Luckily, there are several ways to score a quick boost of confidence when you need it most.

1) Ditch the slouch

We know this one is predictable coming from us, but it’s true! Slouching makes you look insecure and unsure of yourself, while good posture conveys confidence. Plus, research has shown that holding yourself in good posture actually makes you feel better about yourself. Talk about a double whammy! Standing up straight is the easiest thing you can do to instantly look and feel more confident. (Hint hint – Lumo Lift and Lumo Back can help!)

2) Stay positive

Letting negative thoughts about yourself swirl around inside your head is one of the quickest ways to squash your confidence. Work to nix negativity, because telling yourself that you’re not good enough won’t do anyone any good! Instead, focus on positive thoughts, like “I’ll work hard and do my best.” It’s your job to be your own biggest advocate and supporter. When you believe in yourself, others will follow.

3) Be yourself

Ultimately, you’ll look and feel most confident when you’re true to yourself. Rock an outfit that expresses your style and makes you feel amazing. You’ll always feel more confident when you know what you’re talking about, so skip the bluffing and steer the conversation – whether its an interview or a blind date – toward topics that are near and dear to you.

4) Smile!

This one is so easy, but also easy to forget. Everyone looks more confident with a smile! Even if you aren’t feeling it, this is a great time to employ the fake-it-til-you-make-it tactic. Studies show that smiling actually makes people feel happier. That grin won’t be forced for long!
