A Brand New Buzz: The Inside Scoop on Our New Vibration Controls

Hey there, LUMObacker!

We want to let you know that we’ve just released an awesome firmware and app update that will allow you to have more control over your LUMOback’s vibrations than ever before. We’ve included the full update details here, but I just wanted to give you a little bit of background information about why we’ve created these new controls.

Our goal with LUMOback is to provide you with tactile feedback to help you stay mindful of your posture and improve it over time. Through tons of testing and lots of conversations with our wonderful LUMObackers, we’ve determined that getting immediate feedback is super important. Previously, you would not get a buzz until you had been in a slouchy position for 4 seconds. Now, you’ll get a buzz right away as a friendly reminder to sit straight or stand tall. We worked hard to simplify the controls associated with this real-time feedback, making it easier than ever for you to get the feedback that you want and expect.

Additionally, some people want LUMOback to continuously remind them to stop slouching, so we’ve introduced Pulse mode. In Pulse mode, LUMOback will start buzzing at you as soon as you slouch, and won’t stop until you fix your posture. Annoying? Maybe. Effective? Yes! We think this is great to use when you’re first using LUMOback so that you can train yourself to better understand what really is good posture. Once you know what good posture looks and feels like, maybe you’ll want to switch to “Buzz Once” mode and just get one friendly buzz reminder when you slouch. Or maybe staying in Pulse mode is the best way to keep you accountable! It’s all up to you.

Maybe you want to set your Bad Posture Threshold to the strict “Barely Slouched” position but use “Buzz Once” mode, or maybe you’d prefer to use a somewhat more lenient Bad Posture Threshold but pair it with Pulse mode to receive consistent buzzes until you stop slouching.

We love these new vibration controls, and we hope you will too! Let us know what you think in the comments below or by contacting us at support@lumoback.com.

Hi, I was wondering what effect this would have on my phone’s battery life? Is there a difference in battery use from the Lumo back and Lift? Thanks.
